One slightly smaller
The other more vivid
In its hue and color
Both lush and radiant.
One may be picked and
Held as an object of beauty
In crystalline vase and shimmery water.
The other may wither and fade
From sun that has lingered too long
In its embrace and waters that failed to fall.
Whatever the outcome on this day and in this time
They were mirrors of each other whose reflections
Filled the expanse and welcomed all who passed
Through a flower filled summer garden’s gate.
